In 2022, the idea emerged to celebrate animated film director, graphic artist and educator Péter Szoboszlay, Sr.’s (1937) 85th birthday with a joint family art exhibition organized by his three children—graphic artist, animated film director and educator Eszter Szoboszlay (1979); animated film director, painter and graphic artist András Szoboszlay (1972); and graphic artist and head of Hammer Agency advertising company, Péter Szoboszlay, Jr. (1963). The exhibition titled The Apple from the Tree was held at Próféta Gallery in Budapest in June 2022.
Upon the invitation of KAFF, the Budapest exhibition was expanded and tailored to the Kecskemét festival. The four artists showcase their creativity through their respective fields of visual art, presenting natural and urban landscapes, book illustrations, miniature sculptures, posters and poster designs, magazine covers, political caricatures, advertising drawings, some half-realized dreams of visual designs, still images of animations, and even a selection of their animated films.
