GABRIELLA LENDVAI, FERENC BÍRÓ: SLIDE BOOK – THE HISTORY OF HUNGARIAN SLIDE FILM PRODUCTION
The Hungarian Slide Film Production Company celebrated the 70th anniversary of its establishment in 2024. On that occasion, the prestigious company published its grand publication titled SLIDE book – The History of Hungarian Slide Film Production, which offers insight into the history of slideshows and technology and the early days of mass production. It also gives an account of the themes and typical pieces of the period’s publications, and tells about the past and present of children’s slide film production. Rich in illustrations and curiosities, the albumpaints a complex picture of the era’s spirit—its politics, economy, and mindset—while the wonderful illustrations of children’s stories demonstrate the excellence and unmatched diversity of the Hungarian graphic artist community.
The publication was compiled by Gabriella Lendvai using Ferenc Bíró’s work titled From Coloured Glass Sheets to Slide Videos, as well as his private collection.
