DR. TAMÁS KOLLARIK, DR. SÁNDOR TAKÓ: FILMMAKERS’ GUIDE
“Filmmaking is a magical art that is also a serious business at the same time. It is easy to lose your way in this maze and fail if you are not thoroughly prepared, and if you do not assess the your audience’s needs correctly and in time”, wrote film director Gábor Csupó about the book Filmmakers’ Guide, the first Hungarian reference book created specifically for filmmakers. It explains legal, business and production matters in plain terms and is richly illustrated with examples. The guide follows the chronological order of the filmmaking process to answer the legal and business questions faced by filmmakers during their everyday work. The book was written by well-known collaborators Dr. Tamás Kollarik and Dr. Sándor Takó, who have been supporting the development of Hungarian film culture across various fields. Besides working, researching and teaching together in various Hungarian and international universities, they are practising lawyers and film professionals, who know exactly what kind of issues industry player face. Filmmakers’ Guide sits at the top of the pyramid envisioned by the authors over their joint work on matters concerning film law. The present volume seeks to be a kind of “quintessence” of their previous books discussing various areas of filmmaking.
